Celebrating Firsts: Turning 1

Thanks to the lovely Maria, I was recently invited to attend my first ever 1st birthday party (apart from my own, of course). Maria planned to have me photograph her nephew’s birthday celebration as a surprise to her sister and husband, who couldn’t have been sweeter. Seriously, I have never had such amazing homemade Italian food in my life, and they even gave me a slew of delicious leftovers…which I’ll admit, I was hesitant to share with anyone! I couldn’t get over how cute it was that Davide’s tie matched his Paul Frank cake. I wish I was that cool when I was his age (or now, even). I love photographing children because they don’t have a care in the world when you point a camera toward them, unlike adults who usually flinch or immediately flash their teeth, while praying that you’ll soon direct the camera elsewhere. Does anyone else find children a pleasure to photograph or do you find it more difficult since you can’t direct them as easily?

Mama Pea - Thanks again Shannon!! I am just seeing this post. The pictures are so great! You are a pleasure to work with :)

A Break in the Chirps

update1

Sorry for the cricket chirps around these parts lately, I’ve been super busy but promise there will be many more posts coming up. Until then, here are some farmyard friends to keep you company. Enjoy the weekend everyone!!

Fromage Galore: Cheese & Beer Heaven at Quince Fine Foods

When I heard about the cheese and beer pairing event being held at Quince and hosted by the oh-so-adorable Madame Fromage, I knew it was cheese-lovin’ fate. Despite there being a bit of drama with the power going out due to epic storms, we still managed to have fun with cheese and beer in candlelight. Also in attendance was one of the brewers from Philadelphia Brewing Company, Dean Browne, and David April, who heads the Fishtown Beer Runners. Our three cheese & beer pairings were: Ossau-Iraty with Rowhouse Red, Humboldt Fog with Walt Wit and PA Noble with Newbold IPA. All of the cheeses that were tasted are currently available at Quince, which I can’t recommend visiting enough. Thanks again to Madame Fromage and Quince for hosting such great monthly events in the area!
